The rating is for Dr. Anand only. 5 stars for the office staff and the technician who examined my eyes.My appointment... with Dr. Anand was made a lot sooner than I expected. The scheduler was compassionate because I had been having blurry vision for 9 months. I had seen other doctors with no improvement. At the appointment, the technician examined my eyes and listened to what was bothering me. I have 20/20 vision but my vision was not focusing up close. She suggested it may be an ocular surface issue, like dry eyes. If the tear film isn't smooth, light gets distorted and vision can get blurry.Fast forward to when I met Dr. Anand. I started to get a little teary and emotional when I was telling him about my vision history. 9 months of headaches that start around the eyes, trouble reading, feeling like my eyes can't focus, and blurry vision. He was immediately turned off and told me I did not need to be upset. It devolved from there. He decided there was nothing wrong with me after only checking my eye tracking. I asked where my symptoms were coming from. He split up headaches as a neurological issue, reading as a cognitive issue, and implied my blurry vision was in my head. Basically, not his problem as an ophthalmologist. I started doubting his clinical judgment at this point. The rest of the appointment was a wild ride filled with canned phrases to "show" empathy delivered with a simmering defensiveness. It was a terrible experience but the main focus should be on his neglect as a clinician. Here are the Top 3 moments that cast doubt on his professional judgment:"I'd love to delve in and find the answer with you but I can't. Look up your questions on the internet." Always great to hear from a doctor. Plus, what kind of patient do you think I am? Of course I had already looked up all my questions on the internet."I don't think you have dry eyes. I can't check anyway because you were crying." He could have done a really simple check of eyelid meibomian glands. My next doctor did and this is what ended up being the problem."I can do a refraction if you want, but nothing will change. I'm just trying to save you money because insurance doesn't cover it." Why would I trust your refraction if you've already decided what you'll find?It seems that because I was not on the verge of losing my eyes, I was not worth his time. He was definitely not worth mine.*********Shoutout to the tech. She was right about the ocular surface issue. Don't know why the doctor disregarded her. Found an optometrist who actually examined my tear film. All I needed were the right eye drops and a warm compress.read more
